Hi all. Id like to introduce to you, The Slug.

Its a '98 Grand Cherokee Orvis 4.0 (dont really know what the orvis bit is tbh)
Its done a not too shabby 145,500 miles with a plentiful service history to boot. The body is in decent nick for the age of the ol gal, couple of rust patches around the arches and the fuel filler but i think the colour hides them well. biggrin

Apologies for the dark pics, it was night beofre i could stop driving it to take some pics. biggrin

Mechanically it seems good apart from the exhaust needing fixed ( mid section hanging slightly ) and the brakes are pretty sticky so hopefully she wont cripple me. Tis mot'd till July 2012 so if she gets me there then im a happy bunny. Wont really be driving it much till the dodgy weather appears, maybe skip runs and the like.
Picked it up Saturday and ive already been fishing with it and took a load of junk from my sisters to my mums. Its great!

The seats are like a bloomin sofa, the comfiest things ever. All the elecs work as they should and all the switches and buttons do too.
Ill admit, im fookin chuffed with the old girl. Bring on the snow!!

On another note,

Dont mention fuel eh guys? it hurts already. wink

Any tips and links for bits n bobs greatly appreciated.

clean you brakes before they stick on & leave you stranded, they are known to stick a bit. Good buses the Grands, rear axles tend to eat up bearings and rust starts to be an issue on older ones, just keep on top of it. I have a later 2000 4l Grand and it has racked up 220k miles so far.

Oh and Orvis gets you some bits of extra trim & bonnet vents! Was the top spec ones at the time, last hurrah before the new model came out.

Excellent!

I have been wondering, whats the biggest tyre i can put on these wheels? I fancy dome BF Goodriches with the white writing on the side but id prefer them to be chunkier than standard but not overly so that they fill the arches.

standard size is 225 70 16.

any help appreciated! biggrin
