Well i went along to the landrover max show to pick up a few bits for my comp safari racer, and thought it would be rude not to show the landrovers how offroadings done.

Love it!

The bobble hatted fraternity always start fuming and mumbling into their beards when a heretic shows that decent off-roading fun can be had with a non-LR product. smile

Nice to see a Japanese 4x4 getting properly dirty, what is the axle travel like - is it independant front and beam axle rear?

Makes no odds to me what car someone uses for laning or off-roading, I just wish that the current fashion for challenge-style (especially Land Rovers) would pass...cars on green lanes draw enough attention without looking like a demo rig for Hella.

hey we don't always wear bobble hats, sometimes its a beeny or my aussie style one smile

i have no illusions that other off roaders are as good as an LR product, I tend to find that the guy behind the wheel makes the biggest difference then tyres.

a mate of mine drove my disco 1,7 up, round the off road course at Peterborough last year and on worn AT's got a lot further than some other kit on muds (never got stuck at all). mind he teaches people to drive coaches and has all the HGV licences.

the friend I have just stayed with in Oz has a disco 1 as well, and after a load of rain we went out and he managed a hill that a Nissan and Toy Otter couldn't make, they were lifted muds whole shebang. However when we got to the top there was a 20 year old toy otter ute that had made the same climb on AT's same as us, we had a good laugh at the weekend warriors at the bottom trying again and again as they picked the wrong line, we even told them which side to go and they ignored us.

I know LR products have their faults, but my heart says they are the best off roader in the world. Mind you my heart also tells me that Forest are the worlds greatest football team and the scum are just looking after our title smile
