McLaren MP4-12C To Star At Autosport/PH Show

Plus: Ron Dennis gets his private collection out for the fans

See the fabulous MP4-12C...
See the fabulous MP4-12C...
The new MP4-12C supercar will be one of the stars at the Autosport International show in January, backed up by a phalanx of McLaren's racers from the firm's private heritage collection.

The 12C goes on sale next spring but McLaren's successful road car heritage dates back to 1993, when the ground-breaking 627bhp McLaren F1 road car was launched - and one of just 19 McLaren F1 GTRs will also be part of what promises to be an amazing display.

"McLaren is proud to be part of this great event, celebrating all that is best about British motor racing and car manufacturing. Visitors will see a truly exclusive exhibit: the display will be a testament to our heritage in building road and race cars that define their era," says Ron Dennis in a press release, and judging by the list of cars that have been promised he's not joking:

...and its innovative chassis
...and its innovative chassis
"In addition to the McLaren road cars, fans and show visitors will have the chance to see historic F1 cars, including Ayrton Senna's MP4/4, the race car that brought the first World Championship title to the legendary pilot on the eve of F1's cherished turbocharged era. Often labelled the most successful F1 car in history, the MP4/4 is a dream car of many, including Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who recently had the chance to drive it on popular motoring programme Top Gear." (Eh? Never heard of it... Ed.)

The full list of confirmed cars from McLaren is enough to set any F1 enthusiast's taste-buds tingling:

As well as the stunning McLaren feature, show visitors will be able to drool over a selection of performance cars as part of PistonHeads: The Performance Car Show (yes, that's us!), and cars from a wide range of popular motor racing series, including Formula One.

Fans will also have the opportunity to see well-known drivers, celebrities and racing personalities, including long-time F1 commentator Murray Walker, as well as current F1 pundit and former McLaren driver Martin Brundle.

Racing and stunts will provide entertainment in the Fifth Gear Live Action Arena, hosted by TV presenter, current British Touring Car Drivers' Championship leader, and PistonHeads custard test contender (well played sir!) Jason Plato.

Tickets for Autosport International 2011 are on sale now, and include a reserved seat in the Fifth Gear Live Action Arena with every public show ticket.

That'd be the definition of "hilarious" that goes "pointless, sad and asking for a slap" then?

I think I may have to turn up this year. Ron's got a few nice motors...

Plato thread is here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

In summary the first post is "I met JP, he's a knob" then lots of posts defending/deriding JP. On page 8 JP comes in, slates the OP, does custard test then the rest of the thread is pretty much fellatio.

Im not trying to be funny but you obviously were and in doing so inadvertently gave away your IQ! Why not take your infantile comments, and yourself, elsewhere!
