Don't get me wrong, it looked like a nice show, but car shows like this would really seem to get boring. Just cars in a big arena, doing nothing. I would much prefer something like Goodwood Festival of speed, where the cars actually do something.

The show and the atmosphere is great, but the lighting and the ambient colours REALLY need some forward thinking. Black carpets and red backgrounds????
Come on chaps lol
It isn't just the colours on the stands (though red floors really don't help at all) - the ambient lighting in the NEC is tinged in a variety of shades depending upon where you are standing. Over the last few years I have tried a few things - with smaller targets you can just burn the ambient out with flash but otherwise you are into custom white balance (shoot RAW and fix it in post is my tip). Even then it is still occasionally a little hit and miss for an amateur such as I.Come on chaps lol
The problem is that the exhibitors cannot really do too much with the ambient lighting - it is a function of the venue.
They have been posted before, but here are my galleries for the last couple of years : 2009 and 2010
As for the live action arena, I didn't even try to shoot it until this year but it can sort of be done if you have something with better AF and low light performance than my old 400D. The ones in the 2010 gallery were my first ever shoot with my 7D (lens is an 85/1.8 almost wide open).
