Can anyone tell me the details and spec of this car that was in the members cars section. It looked mean, but had no info with it!
Hello,Yes it's my car. Wouldn't have exactly called it brown, more gold or orange perhaps. Anyway, there was meant to be a spec sheet there with the car, but due to 'technical difficulties' it never happened. That doesn't matter though. I'll post some more details and what the spec sheet would have said on here tomorrow evening for you.
Ok Chevette Lovers, here's the Owner's Notes that should have been with my Chevette at the PH show. And below these are some pictures of the car (provided they work ok ).
Make/model: Vauxhall Chevette L (1983)
Engine: 2.0 Ford Pinto (standard internals), Webber 45’s
Power: 140bhp
Top Speed: 130mph
Owner’s notes: I bought this car for £600 in 2004. It was in completely standard form, but in an almost sorry state at the time, as it had sat in a friends back garden with grass growing up the sides. I got it running and cleaned it up, kept it standard for a year and a half, then decided I’d do something with it.
I had never done anything like this before being only 24 years old at the time of starting the project.
I looked into possible engine conversions, eventually settling on the 2.0 Pinto. I completed the entire restoration and engine conversion in 2006. It took 6 months to complete, and other than the respray and engine mounts, I did all the work myself.
Here's where it all began, in my friends back garden.
Was in a little bit of a state, and after being layed up for a few years she started, which was nice.
Here's how she looked after i cleaned her up.
After the engine started to slowly die, i decided to fully rebuild the car. This is just before going for paint.
After the rebuild she looked like this, and thankfully still does.
And finally, on show at PH Show.
