PistonHeads Show 2009

Brand new website launched telling you everything you need to know about the PH Show

Tickets have gone on sale for the PistonHeads Show 2009. The event takes place next January at the NEC in Birmingham and follows the success of the first ever PH Show earlier this year. Of course, if you know PistonHeads you’ll have an idea of what the PH Show is all about – rare and exotic sports cars mixed with all manner of other legendary metal.

The PH Car Display is the centrepiece of next January’s show and features cars supplied by the PH community. It will include everything from Escort Cosworths and Jaguar E-Types, to DeTomasos and Morgans, to Ferraris and TVRs. There is also a brand new website which tells you everything you need to know about the show.

This year there will be a display covering the life of a true road and rally hero - courtesy of the Subaru Impreza Drivers Club. The Scooby will be represented in all of its different forms from the beginning to the present day, so that visitors can see how the car has developed and evolved. There is also a display of track day cars and a showcase of more than 20 models of the Porsche 911 from 1963 to 2008.

Meanwhile the PH Show is co-located with Autosport International and your ticket gives you a seat at the Live Action Arena. Sit back and enjoy a spectacular show involving race and performance road cars, professional race drivers, celebrity presenters and guests from the world of motorsport.

The show takes place between the January 8 – 11 2009 and the website (www.pistonheadsshow.com) will be constantly updated with any new exhibitions and highlights.

What is the price? Didn't see it at first on the linked page.

No Friday option this year?

Think i'll be giving it a miss then. I don't fancy fighting my way through the crowds of chavs potential PH members.

I'd like to give it a go this year. I couldn't make it last year due to work, any excuse to look at cars is no bad thing!

Looks like a copy of the last one, which wasn't the most thrilling.

The main "attraction" was just a car park, with a few decent cars in it.

ant, ive never understood posts like that, negativity, negativity... maybe point out what was so bad, etc

the show could of been better, could of been worse. 99% of people there would of been happy to see half the cars on display, the live action and MCrae stand.

Did any of you go to MPH now that is a brilliant show. I went on Saturday at Earls Court and stayed to the end when Koenigsegg with there new £1.5 million car and Pagani Zonda Roadster F had a Rev battle which was something to behold.

The 2009 Show is not just a collection of some of the most exclusive cars on the road, it has many new features this year that were not at the show last year.

The features so far for 2009 are:

The Live Action Arena - always a big hit with visitors!

5 decades of the 911 with Porsche Club GB - over 20 examples (from 1963-2008) of one of the most iconic cars of our time.

Evolution of the Impreza - The Subaru Impreza Drivers Club will be showcasing 8 different models the Impreza including 2 special editions.

The BMW Car Club M-POWER Feature - Showing some of the most sort after M series examples from old to new.

The Hand Built British Sports Car Pavilion

The Autocar Display

The Mercedes AMG Driving Experience

And of course the Members Car display!

(If you would like to have your car on display at the show then please email pistonheadsshow@haymarket.com)

There are also other features being currently on.

Based on my experience of the last one, I will be keeping the wallet firmly closed. The feedback thread from last time should be required reading for anyone considering parting with their hard-earned moolah.

Absolutely loved it last year, went and had a look at the member's area. Who had the Dodge Charger? Sounded great.
I'm guessing this year if I go the Fiat won't be allowed in the member's area?

I really enjoyed the exhibition last year but why do I have to buy tickets to the Live Action Arena? Last year there was a problem with seat allocation which took until after the beginning of the show to solve. There is was lot of queueing to get to the show, even though I and my son went early. The show itself was poor with limited views due to all the pillars, and the racing was underwelming. Will I be able to buy just an entry ticket?

No chance. Sadly, the days of being able to pay to go into the show (around £10 - £15 IIRC) without being forced into buying a Live Show seat are long gone. I'd been to every Autosport International Show up until about 3 or so years ago, but when Haymarket changed their pricing policy and began to 'offer' punters an all-inclusive ticket for something daft like £25, I stopped going. As, I'd imagine, did a lot of true enthusiasts who just want to mooch about the stands and have no interest in watching Reliant Robins racing around an indoor hall or being choked half to death by a couple of drifting Nissans.

I even sent emails to Haymarket to express my displeasure, but just got the usual corporate waffle as a reply (no surprise there then...). I haven't paid to go since.

Try RaceRetro at Stoneleigh in April 2009. Now there's a good motorsport show!

Have to agree with Trackside. The live action arena is just chavved up motorsport for the masses with neons on everything and sparks galore. It appeals to the new Autosport International demographic and if that is what PH wish to be part of then it is really no surprise that the same demographic shift is seen here in the forums.

On the day ticket purchase:
1 Day ticket £25.00, 1 Day Child (5-15) £5.00, 2 Day ticket £40.00

Car parking is inclusive in the entry ticket price.

above taken from the race retro web site....... there arent any indoor car shows at £15 anymore.

I don't think he was suggesting that Race Retro was only £15 to get in but that it had a somewhat different content and target audience.

I'd have to say that he's right.
