PH show cars...cleaning matters
Discussion
Morning all,
Firstly I apologise for the delay in posting on this topic.
Secondly, thanks to all who drove all the way to the NEC to show their car at last weekends PH Show, as you saw when you arrived again on Sunday afternoon your cars created a very significant display, one that was certainly appreciated by the visitors.
What isn't so good is the fact that some of you are unhappy with the way the cars were cleaned- as we'll be looking for display cars again next year, I'd like to do all I can to put things right as PHers feeling under whelmed by the service provided by PH is never a good thing.
The Zymol team were working hard throughout the show, and did their very best to deal with any cars that needed further attention, but if you feel unhappy then I will sort it. Could all unhappy car owners please e mail me at the office and I will reply to you individually, it was our first show and lessons have been learnt- all helping us to make the 09 show even better.
Thanks again for those that provided cars, and thanks to those who came to the show, overall it was a great sucess for us and we thank you for coming to visit us.
Cheers
G

I can't help but feel that those PH'ers who are complaining were a bit over-optimistic about what the Zymol treatment would entail, some seemed to expect a full free valet. Simple logistics mean that this was never going to happen - at best I was expecting wheel/tyre detailing and perhaps glass if I was lucky, so my car was thoroughly cleaned beforehand. I brought a bucket, sponge and leather to cope with road dirt after I saw the forecast and in the end trailered the car but would happily have spent a couple of hours cleaning it at the show if necessary.
If any criticism is due it is that the instructions were too vague, perhaps the term 'detailing' should have been more clearly defined so owners knew exactly what to expect. I'll be impressed if Zymol decide to offer the same service next year after such poor PR this time.

I agree with these comments, I think if the level of 'detailing' had been outlined better, I'd probably have spent a couple of hours on the Wednesday night polishing the car myself. No real complaints other than that.....roll on 09 If any criticism is due it is that the instructions were too vague, perhaps the term 'detailing' should have been more clearly defined so owners knew exactly what to expect.

Me too,I wasn't expecting the full on detail, but more than the once-over with a buffer that mine appeared to get. I also would have spent the extra time polishing if I'd known.
Expectations were perhaps un-realistic. Like the other guys if I had known I probably would have spent a bit of time sprucing the old girl up on Wednesday. (I actually sat in the NEC station for an hour and a half). I'd be up for it again next year. If I was fortunate enough to be invited.
I don't think it's a case of expecting too much. The instructions were, and I'm not quoting, you wash the thick off outside, push it into place and let the Zymol detailing team do the rest, as far as I understood it. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I shan't be emailing to complain. I don't have a complaint. I'm more than happy to polish my own car but was under the impression that Zymol were doing some kind of a promotion so we were expected to leave them dirty (felt a bit guilty as I'd leathered mine off fairly well!)so that they could cast their magic over them and they could happily promote that all the cars at the show were detailed by Zymol.
I'll Mer mine next year if I get an invite!
And I didn't like the quote on another thread from the Zymol bloke who said they'd not touch anything less than an Audi Foolscap or something! Don't think I'll ever buy a Zymol product now!

I agree the the general sentiments in the respect of that I would have cleaned the car better myself knowing the situation. Mine wasn't touched at all. I spoke to Paul half way through Sunday and he said he'd ask Zymol to give it a polish - never happened. I think I'm probably more disappointed that the spec sheets weren't on view. I know a lot of cars were not standard and people were definately looking "confused" at some displays (mine included - Grinnall Scorpion 4). I think people were wandering around the cars as though it was a car park with better lights.

How's about a little commemorative sticker or badge or something for those that displayed cars? Cheers

would be nice to say 'my car was at the first PH show '
considering no-one seems to have caught it on camera

Nor mine, I think the 'General' I was parked in front of took all the glory although mine's in the background on the PH video.sniff petrol said:

It will cover the two dents caused by the chain holding poles falling on the car.
I have nothing to complain about with regards to the cars being detailed. I cleaned mine to my best ability anyway, as to be honest i didn't really want anyone touching the car other than me.
I think commemorative badges/stickers would possibly be a nice idea. I was pleased with the roped/chained off area around the cars and the spacing around them as it gave better opportunities for photographing the cars than other car show normally do.
Sadly i was disappointed about the lack of spec sheets. As my car was one of the non standard ones in the display it would have been nice to have some information for people to read, and likewise for me to read about the other cars.
Otherwise, i have to say that considering it was the first ever PH Show at the NEC, i was pleased with pretty much everything else and thought that the guys who organised it did a reasonably good job. Possibly a couple of things to learn for next year but otherwise not much to moan about.
I was so pleased and proud to have my little Vauxhall Chevette there, especially as it was among some of the finest metal from around the world. And to see some of the rarer cars, such as the Stingray, the RS200, the GT40's and the Enzo but to name a few was fantastic, the line-up was very well chosen. I hope i too am invited back next year, as i wouldn't miss it for the world. Thanks again for having me.
