was anybody's car detailed??
Discussion
was anybodys car detailed over the 4 days of the PH show?? I was led to believe that as part of showing our cars they would be treated by zymol. when i arrived on sunday morning my car still had water marks on it and after chatting to the zymol guys it got a 5-10 minute dust and spary by a guy but not what I expected. Was anybody happy with their car??
If the black gallardo that was on the zymol stand was anything to go by....I wouldnt expect much.
Now I know it was open to sticky fingers and it was black but it didnt look like it had been polished at all, for a company advertising their product you would have though they would have tried a little harder.
No critisism to the guys who displayed your cars, but judging by the state of some, the owner had left there expecting it to be cleaned. Which evidently didnt happen.

Was that the Black Gallardo on the zymol branded ParcFerme Stand? At least it the microfibre used on that had probably not been used across 200cars! ParcFerme need to go and buy a job lot of ten-gallon hats! Now I know it was open to sticky fingers and it was black but it didnt look like it had been polished at all, for a company advertising their product you would have though they would have tried a little harder.

The gallardo did have bits done, as I watched them wax the front of it.Now I know it was open to sticky fingers and it was black but it didnt look like it had been polished at all, for a company advertising their product you would have though they would have tried a little harder.

I think most people probably left them in a state expecting them to be cleaned/detailed, as that was part of the deal of showing your car
Not ours - we also were told (and checked as we dropped it off) that it was to be cleaned properly. When we arrived on Saturday it was still dirty (we did wash it outside in the dark with cold water when we dropped it off - not ideal) and with some prompting a Zymol guy came and spent 10 minutes on it (but still missed bits....).
Not ideal... I'd have been happy to clean properly if I'd known....
Also - what happened to the boards that were supposed to be by the cars??

For those that are interested looks like ParcFerme are an associate/sister company to Zymol so they are in the same boat in my opinion

I don't know who's car it was, but the Yellow Exige, that was parked near a red sagaris, was in a bad state for a car show on friday, had this grey dust all over it, even showed up as big patches on my photos.
If they were meant to be cleaned etc, at least dusted, all it would have took was a wipe over with a cloth. I never saw anyone cleaning any of them while i was there.
Sorry if you didnt clean you car before you went .. retract my statement lol.

The black Gallardo was chock full of swirl marks, on the "done" and "undone" sides too... I was shocked at the state of it, especially as it was advertising a premium brand.
I jave to say I agree, I saw it on Friday morning and thought they had been so busy they hadn't had time to sort their own car. Tony H was cleaning his exige when I saw him. Most of the other cars were cleanish, but a couple looked a bit of a mess tbh.
im glad i spent a couple of hours when we droped our red sag off,its just a bit of piece of mind knowing that it was cleaned by me for the show.not knocking any one but would not let any tom dick or harry touch my pride and joy, when you work hard to get where you are to day.just a little suggest for next year maybe a central area with free coffee and seating area so we could talk to people about our cars and what piston heads are about.also chance to meet and talk with other pistonheaders.if someone would of asked we helped on the stand at our tvr stand at the classic show last year and won best stand, took 50 new members and sold over £1000 worth of gear.may be if you need a hand for next year give us a shout we are in the west midlands tvr car club a very helpfull bunch, and have experiance in this field. any way we enjoyed it so thanks to every one who was involed its a big show to organise.kiefh.
The boot lid on my car had light scratches all across it where someone had 'dusted', it was in better condition when I dropped it off.
Not a moan, as this was the risk you took. It had taken me 2 days to machine polish the car and to pick it up with swirls back in the paint was frustrating, but I'll get rid of them . .
Apologies to the NEC as I had a jubilee clip failure on the bottom of the pas reservoir which meant most of it's contents slowly dripped on to their floor . . . .
Overall great show and I managed not to spend a fortune at all ad picked one bargain for mothers birthday, all good

I don't think my car was cleaned at all, in fact I know it wasn't.Now, considering I spent half a tank of petrol taking the car there, a £30 train ticket home, and another half a tank of petrol brining my car back home, I think I delivered on my promise and provided my car for the show over the 4 days, and therefore missed out on driving it for those same 4 days.
Piston heads promised to provide free tickets, which they did, however another of the incentives seems to have been blatantly ignored.

It’s not too late to submit your car so if you want it to be seen at the show, and be pampered by the boys at Zymöl

It was a decent show however I think there have been some oversights at the cost of some of the more generous members sacrifices, which frankly ruined the show for me and as such have dented Piston Heads reputation until a peace offering or at least an explanation is delivered.

You were there, Johno? Dammit, never saw you, would have said hello. I was on PH stand near enough the whole time.
I was meant to catch up with you for the that road book as well . .. We were on the stand for about 20mins or so and you weren't around, by the time we were back near the stand you were engaged in conversation and we were on our way somewhere else Shame we didn't get a chance to catch up, maybe next time
