Recommend me: Software to make Dance/Trance tunes

As per the title - I wanna have a go at mixing and making some tunes.

Which software would you recommend for a standard home PC, just to get started?

Two separate things there: mixing and making tunes. Assuming you meant that, then...

Mixing: eJay's Mix CD Producer

Making tunes: download FL Studio 9 demo (no save but allows export to wav format) and layer it in Kristal audio engine (also free). If you're completely new to music production, you may feel somewhat overwhelmed by the tech; if so, buy Dance eJay.
