Is all modern music crap?

Not a rhetorical question; the only 'new' band I've enjoyed in the past couple of years are Foals.

Any other suggestions, apart for Arcade Fire, they're not doing it for me?

Not really my genre/era/speciality, it wasnt a slight on you as such. Spiritualized (not modern) and Mogwai (not particualarly modern or what you're loooking for) is about the best I could do. I do like Arcade Fire but most of the new and/or modern music I like is either 'Dance' or Metal.

Depends what you're into. There's a lot of music that is excellent for when you're off your tits at the moment. More mainstream stuff tends to be st though, you have to look harder to find good rock/indie/alt/pop stuff now.

When I'm not 'off my tits' I tend to revert back to my old stuff, smiths, joy div, led zep, fleetwood mac etc.. But I do have strangely diverse taste for a young lad, and the fact is it all feels like it's been done before but better like already said. So I just listen to the real deal.

I like Spiritualized & Mogwai are a local band to me - I used to band practice in the studio they own - so I know all about them.

Most of my record collection seems to end at 2001, just wanting to broaden the horizons a bit.

It's subjective really! I like Everything Everything, White Lies and the Maccabees but the next person might hate them. I also like Joy Division and Ian Dury And The Blockheads but which is best, the old or the new?

Yep.. I wasnt making a cause for those bands, just sticking up for new/modern music in general.

My small collection of Indie/Rock is generally made up of (early) 90s bands too, proud to say no Oasis/Blur/Radiohead!
