Currently watching the doco I'm your Man (which will be followed by Live in London) and his music is simply beautiful especially when sung by people like Antony Hegarty. So I figured I’d start a thread for people to post songs of his they like or stories about seeing him live.

I missed him when he came out here two years ago and I baulked at paying $350 to see him in an intimate 15,000 seater stadium this time. That said I still remember the first time I heard Death of a Ladies Man, I was a huge Dylan fan at the time and that album was a hell of a lot more interesting than anything I heard by Dylan.

I don't have any real stories about him, but I can fully appreciate why he is so highly regarded

I first started listening to him after hearing a couple of cover versions in the early 90's, namely "Everybody Knows" on the soundtrack to Pump Up The Volume....and then R.E.M. covering "First We Take Manhattan" as a B-side. From there it was the usual case of buying a couple of old LP's then CD's, including the aforementioned "Death...etc"

A lot of the public associate him now with "Hallelujah" but he's done far more that's better. The albums Songs Of Leonard Cohen and Songs From A Room (especially the remastered versions from a couple of years ago) are a great place to start

I thought we would never get a chance to see him live, but thanks to his manager stealing all his money whilst Len was living the life of a monk, he had to go touring again. Twice I bought tickets, but twice I had to sell them in advance, due to either ending up on holiday or arriving back on the day in question. Still hope to see him sometime
