I see a song on 2010 thread but not album.

So what were your highlights of 2010? (also looking for ideas to try something new so these PH threads are always illuminating)

Some of mine to kick off:

Caribou - Swim
The National - High Violet
LCD Soundsystem - This is happening
Yeasayer - Odd Blood (first album still better though)
Four Tet - There is love in you
Magnetic Man - Magnetic Man
Beach House - Teen Dream

Same for yours, I've been meaning to listen to The National and Yeasayer for a long time.

Since my reply on the last discussion I have received my copy of The Octopus by Amplifier, and it has shot to the top of my list (in an admittedly fairly weak year). It is an epic 2 hour adventure that you may enjoy if you like rock with prog elements and big dirty riffs, kind of along the lines of Porcupine Tree or a more chilled and less pompous Muse. Songs that aren't in any hurry to come to a conclusion, that sort of thing!

While it isn't perfect and drags a bit later on the second CD, I feel compelled to love it more, and promote it, due to the fact that it took the band 3 years to make after losing their second record deal, so it was self funded (running out of money more than once in the process) and free from intervention (what record label would let you release a two hour double album rather than two separate albums if you have the material these days?). I want it to pay off!

You can listen to it on the above link. There's a free download track, but it isn't the best on there.

I've also changed my mind on the new Pure Reason Revolution album, which is creative yet catchy and accessible. Great harmonies too, and less annoying than their last album. Probably my second favourite, with Foals in third.

While good, I still didn't get into the latest Oceansize one as much as previous albums though sadly.

Immersion by Pendulum has been getting a re-appreciation after I saw them in December.

While not commercially released but seemingly available, the Ulrich Schnauss and Jonas Munk collaboration was standard lovely chillout stuff from them, as was the Brian Eno album.
