the last time i tried this i got fried for telling everyone to give tesseract a go.
however....one or two of the people who are now in tesseract used to be in a band called fellsilent.their debut has only just come out on national release(actually made in 2008) despite the band having already split.

Have you ever heard Fall Silent? If not, pick up a copy of Superstructure - it's brutal.

The Prodrive trip was awesome - a fantastic day out and the first chance I've had to sample the V8V as well. Such a special car. If you're interested in the Prodrive trip, drop me a PM and I'll send you the details. I've done a full write-up on my blog if you can stand all the verbosity...

Let me know what you think of Fall Silent, they're one of my all-time favourite hardcore bands.

The Fellsilent album was in a sale on Play a couple of weeks back. I gave them a listen but couldnt get on with the vocals, the music seemed ok though.

Pretty cool, reminds me of Protest the Hero. Double pedal rocks well with the guitars and the vocals sound similar to Arusha Accord.
Edited to say that's probably why there's an Arusha track linked to the song aha.

i thought you might like them a bit more than tesseract as they sound a bit less polished.for me it's one of those albums i have to keep on playing as there is so much going on and the chord movements and melody lines are not always what you'd expect.
i fking love all this djent stuff but appreciate i'm in a bit of a minority !! i suppose not everyone likes listening to stuff that is the aural equivilent of a maths exam!i was painting my daughter's room the other day listening to it and the wife wandered upstairs, gave me a quizical look and shook her head.

To be honest I quite like some of the Djent stuff, it's usually the vocals which put me off it - one of the reasons I like Cloudkicker!

There does seem to be quite a few against the whole style, but it's not a million miles from what Meshuggah have been doing for the last 10+ years.

agreed mate, this current sound is definately a direct result of meshuggah.moving backwards i think helmet were the first band i noticed to start using fked up and off beat time signatures which fascinated me as a budding guitarist in the early 90's

I didn't like it then either smile

Fellsilent likewise leaves me cold, but each to his own. Just checking out Fall Silent, and does have a sort of old school thrash / technical death / hardcore mixture to it, although the vocals are a bit annoying after a while.

Enjoying The Lord Weird Slough Feg at the moment. Mad as a box of otters.

Cheers for checking out Fall Silent, chaps. I know not everyone can like everything but always good fun to try. Mates of mine are in a kind of technical death/grind band called Canaya who might be worth checking out. Their EP has done well in the magazines lately and they've all been in decent bands previously.

And now for something silly. Lawnmower Deth seeking to answer their own question of "How many times can you bounce on Satan's big old trampoline?". Middle age hasn't made them any less daft.

ETA - back on topic(ish) here's something I shouldn't like, but quite do for some reason :-

..I quite liked the Illuminatus track but I think I'd get bored after a more than a few songs. Again the vocals annoy me a bit.
