They were actually hugely dissapointing last time I saw them, Ian Astbury was in a mood and the band were sloppy, they actually got booed.
But I've also heard people say they are brilliant, maybe they'r one of those bands you have to catch on a good day???

I'm giving them another chance though in january purely because masters of reality are supporting

saw them at sonisphere last june; From that performance i can say they've still got it! Ian is a bit "larger" these days but his voice is still strong, even if he was drunk as a skunk! I would go and see them again at a drop of a hat...

Saw them maybe 3 years ago at the Forum (London). They played well but Astbury had a go at the audience for sitting down , to be honest, if they paid for seat and want to sit down, who cares? It was along the line of "why the fk are you sitting down? I thought this was a fking rock concert.." he came across as a bit of a bellend really, Billy Duffy looked uncomfortable with him saying it. Maybe he's just a grumpy old man these days?

It did put me off seeing them for a while. Not seen them since as it happens, but not because of that.

Funny - I was there too, and I got bored after 2 songs. They didn't impress me at all...

i see theyre not coming to Belfast which is a pity! Their Live @ the Marquee is still one of my faves. Astbury seems to revel in being a cockhead though, which is a shame as theyre a good rock band with a good back-catalogue on songs

The Cult were the first band I ever saw live, on the Love tour at Victoria Hall in Hanley, back in November 1985 I think. Was a great gig, though I've never seen them since and I had no idea they were still going. Wouldn't bother seeing them again though as I don't think they could ever live up to the energy and memory of that gig.

Saw them as Death Cult in 1984 and really enjoyed the night, for some reason I had the idea of putting make-up on for the gig, and my mate's mum did it for me, blusher, eye shadow/liner, blusher, lipstick, the lot. confusedbiggrin

What goes through the minds of teenagers, eh? confused

Saw them at the Royal Court in Liverpool in 1985 (I think). Fancluntingtastic!

Yer man has done some great tracks with UNKLE (James Lavelle) since. Check out BURN MY SHADOW. Great vocal and lyrics. Astbury's a bit of a clock, but I would be if I was him and not a civil engineer!

Saw them year before last. Astbury was so rude and arrogant towards the crowd, we stayed for 2-3 songs then left. Won't be wasting my money on them again. I'll stick with my fond memories of the good old days, when they were good and when he wasn't disappearing up his own behind!!

We saw them at the Albert Hall in 2009 doing Love Live. Ian was a little moody & Billy said "this is him (Ian) happy!"

Ian was also muttering about being an artist & suffering for his work.

Great show though, as soon as the opening riff to Sanctuary starts, i'm 16 again.

To the OP, i'd see 'em again in a heartbeat, go for it.

First band I saw live as well - were supporting Big Country.

Many years later, worked with Billy on some stuff.

Astbury is an unpleasant cock and he was having a pop at the audience back in the days of LRM, feel sorry for the guy, being able to do something like that and clearly resenting it

I am going to see them 21st January so after reading the previous posts going with an open mind and no expectations of what they used to be like. The only gig I have walked out of after three songs was China Crisis.
