Most rehearsal rooms have a kit in them. Some even do special rates if you're just a drummer on your own. They're not normally the greatest looked after kits, but it's something!

Also called rehearsal studios.

All over the place in London, not sure how common elsewhere in the country.

Diz, I'm involved with a studio place in Mill Hill NW7. It's not near you I know, but as well as 10 band studios rooms they've got a dedicated drum room for only £3.50 hr with a full drum kit, CD/iPod player & small PA system..

Gimme a shout and I'll give you details..

the studio my band uses has a drum kit for hire but i take my own anyway, more effort but nothing like playing my own kit. I use mushroom studios in rayleigh essex.

Regarding the electric kit, it has nothing on a real kit, i just got an alesis dm10. Cost 800 but thats pretty much entry level and i still only use it for a bit of practice and recording at home. Friend of mine has a roland td12 i think it is but he paid a couple grand for it, couldnt part with that much cash for one.

Have fun getting back into it mate biggrin, i love it!

All the studios have Pearl kits all usually no more than a couple of years old, and ok (ish) but basic cymbals. If you haven't played for a while I doubt if you 'll last more than an hour or 2, so a halfday session will be a bit of a waste initially.

You'll probably get a deal in a more local studio for a midweek daytime, so see what gets offered, or gimme a shout
