Planet Sound for Pistonheads
Discussion
John Earls, the editor of this Teletext music review, had a fantastic ear for some top music.
I was absolutely gutted when Teletext shut down and he started up a record label. He still contributes to the NOTW on Sundays a bit, which is useful but I still miss his reviews and his top 10s of the year.
I got into the following bands through his recommendation or those with similar taste on the 'forum' / letters page:
Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, The Twilight Sad, The National, British Sea Power, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Foals, Interpol, the Maccabees, Sons and Daughters, Temper Trap, Telekinetic, Death Cab for Cutie, Bon Iver and Queens of the Stone Age.
Anyone else want to add some similar-ish bands to the above that I / anyone else who misses Planet Sound's demise should be listening to?
