I have recently got into Jeff Beck but looking at his back catalogue, I am not going to buy all his albums. Which ones should I pick out? Or should I just get a best of? confused

Depends what you prefer. 'Blow By Blow' and 'Wired' contain some sublime guitar work, although quite jazz-influenced. For out and out rock, probably 'Guitar Shop', 'Big Town Playboys' is pure '50's R'N'R, some of the later albums contain everything from opera to rock and everything in-between.

Beck encompasses virtually every genre of music from the last half-century; what do you want?

Definately 'Blow by Blow' and 'Wired'... I also like 'There and Back' but it is a bit 80's.

His first "Jeff Beck Group" album Truth is bloody brilliant if you like smoky, hipshot blues playing. Rod Stewart yikes is great on the vocals as well.

Otherwise, another vote for Blow By Blow.

A great tune from Truth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0agVtbLcq-I

Agreed - has the bonus of being available as a DVD so you can watch the master at work.
