Anyone watching/listening to (I've got to the point where I can't watch) the BBC 4 documentary on Gorecki - "The Symphony Of Sorrowful Songs"?

Beautiful and moving music but harrowing, very harrowing.

One of my faves, but I have to be in the right mood. Some of his other work is challenging though.

Agreed, this is very accessible but the sub-text being so vividly highlighted by the documentary (i.e. the genocide of the Jews) is making this very challenging for me.

Is this a new doc or a repeat of the one that's been available on DVD?
If the latter, I have to agree.
My other half and I watched it together and were in tears through most of it.
We haven't been able to watch again. It's just too harrowing.

I'm not sure, I hadn't heard about the DVD, just caught this on BBC 4 - they tend to repeat and it is on iPlayer here:

I ended up listening to the music and reading to hide the images on screen; just too bad. But utterly beautiful music.

Yes, it's the same documentary/performance with Dawn Uppshaw singing that I have on DVD. I imagine it was shown again recently to commemorate the death of Gorecki. I find it very difficult to watch, and prefer to just listen to the music. It's so desperately sad.

I've recorded the programme on the Sky Planner but don't know if I will watch/black screen it again tbh.

I have some Gorecki already but not the 3rd symphony so downloaded it on iTunes last night so can listen without the images!
