7 years ago I got married and went on honeymoon to the US with the new Mrs. While out there we hired an outrageously large car and proceeded to drive the freeways listening to a classic rock station we found. On one long drive the following song came on and it stuck in my head and I instantly liked it. trouble was I could not remember the lyrics much and the DJ did not say who had performed it and some adverts came on, I thought I would hear it again some day and find out who was the artist, I did a bit of googling upon my return but did not find it, so I sort of forgot about it but but kept half an ear out for it on suitable radio stations.

Well tonight I was youtubing about and link surfed to it, as the opening fired up I knew it was the same song I have been sort of listening out for since.

No real reason for posting it at all, I just thought I would share, I might go for a spirited drive !

Yes a good song.

Metallica do a cracking version (without ruining it) and there's a good video to go with it.

Excellent live!

Dear getragdogleg,

have you tried Mainstreet, big hit Hollywood Nights or the top gear favourite Fire Inside?

Until last night no.

Now I am more familiar with Mr Seger and cannot understand how I missed his music up until now, its right up my alley.

His greatest hits cd has a reserved slot in the car, its great listening. Guessing you are also into Springsteen, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan if you appreciate Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band

One of my all time favourite albums.

thumbup

Owned it on vinyl, cassette and CD. Sadly the CD version has a minor, but irritating, edit to get it under 74 mins and thus onto one disc. If you haven't heard the full version I'd doubt you'd notice.

Yep.

James taylor and jonny cash feature in my cd changer right now, as well as neil diamond.

You have good taste Sir

Springsteen is my personal favourite having seen him 6 or 7 times, never fails to deliver and loves to perform. Such a shame that the old 4 and 5 hour shows have been cut back, still real entertainment though.

4 pr 5 hours? I thought Springsteens shows at 3+ were long

--

This is the best liv Metallica version I have, much looser than the studio version.

The guitar work is good at the end.

The metallica version of Turn the page is different but good despite the added agression, the two songs make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up on end for very different reasons.

I like Master of puppets, its the first Metallica album I ever got into when it first came out.

Back in the day.... Bruce did shows that were that long, we saw him at Milton Keynes, tickets said show started at 8pm, 8pm he was on stage playing, no support, no backup, just him and The E-Street band, at 1230 he was still playing having had just 20min break. Real value and entertainment.
Unlike Guns n Roses the other week, didn't show up until nearly 10pm and only lasted 2 hours. Interspersed with long breaks of instrumental filling. Good but not that good. Even at 60 years old Springsteen did better at Hyde Park last year. A true performer.
