The Black Keys
Discussion
I went to see The Black Keys last night in the o2 Academy in Newcastle and it surprised me just how busy the place was (it sold out a 2000 capacity venue). If I ask ask around friends, no-one has heard of them and I struggled to find someone to go with. To me, they seem a very "small" band with limited popularity because of that, but the venue was packed - the busiest I've ever seen it. How come? Have I missed something and they've been promoted / in magazines heavily recently?
Either way, the gig was brilliant. The noise they made, the way it filled the room and the energy that was in the place was fantastic!

I went to see them in 2003 at the 100 Club. Great gig! Didn't see them again for years, and went to the Forum to see them. Sold out, with about 2000 people there. They seemed to have got big on a the quiet.
I remember hearing a few songs in adverts, so I guess this is where they have gained popularity. Just had a look at Wikipedia, and their songs have been used all over the place.
Must say, I prefer Thickfreakness-style to what they have done recently.
