Know there's a few DJs here so a little incident worthy of note if for no reason than to avoid a repeat.

Saturday night, 18th birthday disco in a pub. Usual stuff, all very jolly.

Halfway through, the mum asks if her friend can sing a few songs. No problem - expecting someone just to warble into the mic. This fella turns up who it turns out is an ex- X Factor final 14 contestant. Whips out his lap top with backing tracks and a £1k Shure radio mic and starts pluming it in to my gear (Makie) "Got a similar set up to this mate" - and he certainly appears to know his knobs!

Off he goes and starts singing but with so much reverb, it sounds like the worst autotune you've ever heard and if the sliders went to 11, that's where he would have put them. No reason as he did have a cracking voice.

Either way, he managed to completely knacker one speaker. He wound the reverb right round, twiddled with something else and set the effects to "Cathedral", full channel volume in a pub!!!

Thankfully just three blown transistors at £60 - which he's paying for!

Never let a stranger play with your knob s !
