Hi all

I was at our local bootsale this morning and bought a couple of guitars, an acoustic and a one piece strat style solid body electric..
The electric one has Burns Tri-sonic pickups and the enclosed saddle has Rangemaster on it, it has a whammy bar the locks in with a nut!!

Here are a couple of pics..

it came in a Selmer simulated snakeskin hard case...

I'm fairly sure that someone has painted this guitar with houshold gloss (acrylic) paint so i don't know who made the guitar, does anyone have an idea before i break out the nitromors???

Cheers, John smile

BTW, the acoustic one is a bit of an enigma too, on the headstock it says Lyon by Washburn yet when i google this it only returns three or four relevant hits (guitar related), again, anyone know anything about these acoustics, it's all mahogany though i believe it's all laminated (or if you're common like me, plywoodbiggrin )

The white electric looks like it's made from several different guitars. Possibly Selmer, Burns and Goya. Goya made the Rangemaster range, but it's not a Goya guitar. If you strip the guitar, you'll probably find that the neck was originally bolt on. It's a weird one for sure!

The crocodile Selmer case is quite rare btw, and looks to be in pretty good condition. The Selmer crocodile case originally came with the Futurama guitars...which were re-badged Hagstroms smile

That electric looks home made to me; for years those Burns Tri-Sonics were the only pickups you could buy separately. Brian May used them on his Red Special but rewired them as he didn't like the sound. It's not like a normal single-coil pickup, because there's a bar magnet under that black plastic cover.

no idea about what either of them are I'm afraid, but out of general interest, how much did you pay ? love the electric case smile
