I think it's because it's "fun" and "happy" so not really unusual as such. If they said they liked Sepultura, I'd be worried for their mental health.
Funny you should say that, on Saturday my 20 month old was dancing round the living room to this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrEANkxPLV4

Son 5, Daughter 3. They both love Sound of Music and have soundtrack CD as well as film. Son also has 'Ding-dong, the witch is dead' on repeat on his CD player at the moment. They both like songs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins.
Most of my music isn't really suitable for kids of that age, lyric content, but they quite like Stereophonics. Motorhead and the like. I'll start getting them into Slayer soon....

Hmm well both me and Mrs Dead are into rock and metal so she's been played it since she was in the womb, she's a pretty happy kid so I can't see that it has any adverse effect so far...
I'm not really in a position to comment and I also have similar tastes in music to you; my knowledge of child psychology is rudimentary but I think the most influential years of a child's life are between 1 and 5. Plus didn't they find that playing Mozart to a foetus was supposed to improve a child's intelligence? Not criticising your parenting skills at all but possibly something of interest to you, that's all. Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
