Regular VS Fat Strat
Discussion
So,
After failing miserably to find a left handed strat that I like, I've decided to have one made to my spec.
Now as there are NO fat strats in any local shops to me, (in fact I've only ever found 1 left handed strat of ANY description, in ALL of my searching!), I've never played or heard a fat strat, so I'd like to put it out to the masses to educate me!
I've heard they're frowned upon a bit by strat snobs. Is this true, and if so, why? Do regular strat players use the bridge pup a lot? Is it something I'd miss?
It seems like the best of both worlds to me, but I don't want to have it made, and then wish I'd chosen to go with a regular one!
Sometimes it sucks to be a leftie! It's practically impossible to 'try before you buy'.

I think it depends on what sort f music your playing, one of mine has the fat strat configuratio and I find I mostly use the bridge humbucker, very rareley the neck or middle bt then I play a lot of rock and metal. I think the Fat Strat rather than the double fat strat is the best bet. Sod the purists, they don't have to play your guitar!
I suppose you have checked out YouTube?

Definatly go for a Fat Strat if you play heavy rock/metal. Single coils just don't cut it for that style of music (in my opinion.)

Hi revs, I have a Squire fat strat so different to the spec you are looking at but this is my take. To me the one thing the fat version lacks over the standard is the traditional 'strat sound' in the bridge pup and for that reason I kind of wish I had gone for the standard. However this is probably down to the poor tone from the Squire humbucker rather than the pup layout and the one reason I got the guitar is for some versatility due to the fact I am a beginner and I like to play a wide range of stuff from pop stuff right thru to thrash metal etc... and you can get a lot of very different sounding tones from this guitar I will say that.
