Does he play live any more? Re-discovered Brilliant Trees yesterday, loving it all over again.

I think he does occasionally do small gigs.

I've have a healthy interest in his work since hearing Red Guitar. That got me into Japan. Rain Tree Crow was apparently practically a solo work despite having the rest of the band with him.

Some isn't so easy though - the work with Holger Czukay was damn near impossible.

Ryuichi Sakamoto was a damn good collaborator, as was Robert Fripp.

Damn talented musician, and his partner (Ingrid Chavez) is also equally irritatingly creative.

Loved Japan, his solo work is too introspective. Rain Tree Crow was supposed to be a Japan Album until Sylvian decided if he didn't get his way nobody else could play.

On a more somber note Mick Karn is not at all well these days. He lives in Cyprus and has Cancer. A number of his Musician friends have contributed tracks to help him out.

That's very sad... loved his work; in fact I treated the neighbours to a full-fat vinyl based recital of Visions of China a few days ago. Still sounds awesome

Posted a few weeks back that I'd decided to pick up Assemblage on CD, still hasn't come off the Ipod when I'm in the car. Great collection of tracks.

Think he mentioned something about this when interviewed a month or so a go for the BBCs 80s series - might even have been the Penthouse and Pavement program.

Loved Japan and still do .... going for a listen now!

I was working in London a few years back, and remember hearing that he was doing a few intimate gigs somewhere on the south bank. Was incredibly hacked off that due to work commitments I couldn't make it. Grrrr.

I saw DS live a few years ago and, despite being a fan of almost all of his work (including with Holger Czukay!), I was a bit disappointed. He still had the voice, but that was part of the problem. His performance lacked spark and emotion, leaving me with the impression that he believes that his voice and the songs should be enough and no further effort is necessary. Having said that, if I had the chance to see him again, I'd probably go as the performance I saw could have been a one-off.

I also love Jansen Barbieri Karn's work, although unfortunately I've not seen them live. Sad too to learn of Mick Karn's health problem.
