I've finally taken the plunge!!! Booked my first drum lesson for this coming friday.

Been meaning to do it for ages and finally got around to it.

Pretty much wanted to play drums all my life but parents were never big fans of the idea, late last year I finally decided just to buy a cheap set and have a go, for various reasons such as uni finals etc I never really got very far with it so decided if I take proper lessons it should give me some structure to practice with and hopefully I'll get somewhere now!

Very excited about it. Sure the neighbours won't be though haha

Hope you enjoy it! Despite what some people think I believe lessons are very useful and in my eyes better than going it alone.

Let us know how you get on smile

I'd always recommend having lessons to anyone and I've even done some teaching myself.
Tuition is what you make it. It won't turn you into a clone if you don't want it to but should, with shed-loads of the right input from you, give you the dexterity and vocabulary to play how you want to.
Hope it goes well!

Excellent!!

Had 45 minutes, went through a good hanful of different beats, using both snare independence and bass independence. Everything he tried to teach me I picked up and could do within the lesson which was good. Given me about 10 different beats to practice over the week and got another lesson for next friday!

Can't wait.

Good luck with the lessons mate.

Ive been doing lessons for a few months and the progression is so much quicker than if you were to go it solo. Plus im playing at home in spare time to which makes a big difference.

Yer I think it's definitely worth it, I had clarinet lessons at school and progressed very well.

I can already read music and have grade 5 theory so hopefully I should progress quickly.

While I was at V fest this weekend i found myself just transfixed by the drummers all weekend!
