I know a lot of people will dismiss it as adolescent drivel, but even now I'm approaching the wrong end of my twenties I've still got a soft spot for 'skate' punk. Anyone else on here?

Offspring and Green Day were everywhere when I was finishing school, as were Less Than Jake, Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish, NOFX, American Hi Fi, Fenix TX, Sponge...

i'm a bit older than you fella and as such what constitutes skate music to me was the stuff from the old powell/peralta or santa cruz videos.these are the bands that influenced what came after like nofx etc.

Sounds remarkably similar to the sort of stuff I grew up with in the '90s. Obviously, if it ain't broke...

Still love it all too, I'm only 22 though, some of them are just classics that you can always go back to.

yeah man, when all these guys turned up years later i was like" what the fk???" but i guess it's the biggest compliment of all when you see the drummer from blink 182 sporting a dag nasty tattoo on his chest!! later descendents and the band they became "ALL" are probably the biggest influence of all on the modern day melodic punk.

Still love it all - Goldfinger, LTJ, Descendents, NOFX, millencolin, suicide machines, bad religion, pennywise, Offspring etc. etc.!

I think it all peaked for me back in '98 - got my mohawk done and went to reading festival for the first time the day I got my GCSE results aged 16, so cool!
-As you can gather I'm now the wrong end of my 20s but I still live in hope that one day I'll get one of my skateboards out of the loft and shred some ramps!

Did still manage to go and see Rancid in London last year smile

The genre as a whole isn't my cup of tea, but I'll happily bounce around to NOFX, and it's one of my favourite styles of music when it comes to genius cover versions

Yes!

Going to see Less Than Jake in November in Nottingham - it'll only be about the 7th time and I still can't wait.

Anthem is an awesome album - particularly Science of Selling Yourself short, Escape from The A Bomb House and Plastic Cup Politics.

Although I often wonder what happened to the bloke they used to have in the badn just dressed up as a skeleton. He doesn't appear any more.

Offspring were great - Ixnay on the Hombre is a brialliant album.

Roll on November.

Man, I love a lot of this music. My husband is really into it and knows, dj'd with or supported a lot of the bands. It was probably one of the things that got us together.

Rancid, noffix (NOFX in-joke), Reel Big Fish, Greenday, and Face to Face especially. I'm sure I've forgotten hundreds. Don't go to a lot of gigs now though. Love 'Jen' obviously. Look up a band called Even in Blackouts. The singers voice is outstanding, the guitarist used to be in Groovie Ghoulies and they just fking rock. Loved Lightyear, my husband knows them from Uni and they were fantastic. There were even loads on great local bands for a while.

As the genre goes I think '...and Out Come The Wolves' takes some beating. Not a duff track on it.

The funny thing is, I could'nt tell you half the bands I love, yet as soon as the song was played I'd be up dancing like a tt. I do adore face to Face though.

Wiled away a long motorway trip with plenty of tunes from Ixnay, Smash, Cheer Up and Why Do They Rock So Hard. Also lots of random stuff on the more metally side like Dope and Blood for Blood.

Anyone heard of a punk band called CIV? They did a song called So Far So Good (possibly a cover?) but couldn't find any of their other stuff.
