Years ago I heard a long (10 mins? longer even?) track on late night radio that was superb, and I recall that it was from the period Hendrix was playing with them. It was melodic and featured a guitar break that was excellent. I've tried to trace it via the usual suspects (google, spotify) but without success. Any ideas?

There's a handful of bootlegs featuring him playing with those guys. Just dig around a bit on t'internet.

Could easily have been Ernie; very 'sound-a-like' around the early Epic years in the mid-70's.

As I said in the original post, it was quite a while ago that I heard this track, but the dj def mentioned Hendrix, although it could have been in reference to Ernie's style. Guess I'll keep trawling....

That Lady. Too obvious, really, but worth posting a link anyway.

I'd never seen either of these; just off to break out some old vinyl....

Star spangled banner? if you don't hear the start it can be hard to tell what it is or was.

Well done, that's the one! The guitar playing is not as good as my memory suggested, but it's a great track nevertheless. Thanks clap

There are multiple versions of this track, might have been this one you heard from their live album.
