I don't get it, what's the fuss about? he's not even very good. There I was watching Muse kick off when he wanders on stage and the band goes through another rendition of something that has one effect, 3 notes and bugger all skill. At least when he fked off Matt Bellamy rocked the joint

Don't push me -I'm close to the Edge. -I'm just trying not to lose my head.

[sigh]

Its like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how I keep from going under...

I want to know at what point in life did he ask people to call him "The Edge"

I also want to know what sort of fked up, retarded, sycophantic pricks didn't simply say "Tell you what, I'll call you The . You "

the fact that he is in a band that are 5x better than MUSE will ever be... possibly.

he may not be the fastest or whatever bit his guitar work has been very good on many songs, judge him by his final sound, not how he gets there.

Yes, I'll reconsider if they ever release an album anywhere near as good as The Joshua Tree or Acttung Baby

Worth watching It Might Get Loud if you're genuinely interested in The Edge. Whilst technically he might not be the best guitar player in the world I thought his thought process was quite interesting.

He takes the piss out of himself for his reliance on technology too as at one point he does the main riff to one of U2's songs (Elevation I think) and say something along the lines of "but it doesn't sound very good with no effects" and he's just playing 2 notes. hehe

I don't think anyone thinks he's a great guitarist but he is inovative in his use of technology (bearing in mind how long U2 have been going now).

He played to his strenghts, it works in the music they make.

Personally I think all these widdly widdle players are crap, brilliant technically but playing guitar is about more than how many notes you can get in to a bar.

So you are basing success on sales? I suppose that makes Girls Aloud one of the best acts around then. While Muse might not be to everyones taste they exhibit more talent in their big toes than U2 ever could.

I liked the guitar work on Pride, but as a non-player I have no idea how technical it is. It doesnt sound tricky, just sounds good. Rest of U2 leaves me pretty cold I have to say, but probably down to excrutiating levels of hypocrisy rather than musical talent, or lack of.

This is spot on, i much prefer a melodic guitar sound than any number of joe satriani rip offs, see peter green, clapton and paul kossoff

U2. Worst band in history. Fact.
