Guys,

Anyone have any experience with EasyJet and a guitar??

Looking to take one away (havent decided whether to take an acoustic or electric)

Will they let me take it on as hand luggage? ...or does it need to go in the hold???? (eek!)

I have no doubts at all that it will have to go in the hold sorry to say.

oddly enough their website has the following:

Musical instruments
Musical instruments will only be permitted to be carried in the cabin (as the one standard piece of hand baggage allowance) and placed into the overhead locker if space is available and strictly subject to the Captain's discretion. The instrument including its carry case must not exceed the dimensions 30 x 117 x 38cms. Instruments which fit into this category include violin, viola, piccolo, flute, clarinet, bugle and trumpet.
Any instrument which exceeds the dimensions 30 x 117 x 38cms must be checked in as hold baggage, subject to the relevant fees. The maximum weight for any single piece of baggage is 32 kgs.

if you are told you have to check it in, pay the fee but ask to check it at the gate. if they agree it will go inside the cabin, though not in the overhead lockers.

no personal experience, but a mate does this all the time.
