I mean, which song, when it pops up on the radio, iPod, Windows Media Player, whatever - makes you lose control of your feet?

Even if, like me, you're not exactly Wayne Sleep or even the most co-ordinated person in the world.

Which track makes you unable to resist the urge to strut your funky stuff?

It's "One Step Beyond" by Madness for me. When it comes on, I can't help getting into a "Dad dancing" groove - even though I'm not a Dad.

Several SKA type tunes will do this to me, as will various older dance records, but so will most of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack boxedin

I also can't help but strut about and pretend to cut an ear off someone close by, when I hear 'stuck in the middle' by stealers wheel.

Ironically, I don't feel like Dancin' by Scissor Sistershehe

Seriously though, not a lot. Takes a hell of a lot of alcohol to get me anywhere near "losing control of my feet". I like a good mosh though, bit of Trivium or Rise to Remain smile

You do realise it was written by Elton John? Oh the shame of it biggrin

For my money, the Hayseed Dixie version is better, and more... Blokey.

Anything with a good funk groove is irresistable for me.

There are a couple of Daft Punk tracks which have had me jigglin me bits recently

Picture the scene. House party, but could be anywhere. Old fattish bald bloke (me) surrounded by family and friends. Generally playing it cool "Oh really, how interesting that you have a Prius Mildred", "you like Coldplay Geoffrey... oh really, so you're the one" etc.

Then, the beat starts. My kids throw me a nervous glance as I reach for my beige zip up cardigan, then they run for cover. They know the fate that is about to befall their pride.

She was more like beauty queen from a movie scene
I said don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
She said I am the one who will dance on the floor in the round

It's not really my kind of music, and I am not much of a dancer but I just cannot resist that beat.

around 5 minutes of complete non coordinated thrashing passes...

"So what was that you were saying about the Prius then?".

"Hey. Where has everyone gone Mildred?"

"They are outside rolling on the grass like Cadbury Smash Aliens"

Works every time.

But dance sets you free, man. Just close your eyes, tip your head back, let the sounds fill your head and dance.

To add, I don't dance but i can do that sort of thing Angus Young does where you air guitar and sort of hop along with sort of scissor legs. Oh and I can mosh and stage dive. Well, I could, probably not a good idea now I'm nearing 40............

Only rocking I do now is in a fcensoreding chair.
