Vaguely Music related.

Off to see Bon Jovi Friday night and wondered if anyone had advice on travel. Options are:

1. Drive from Swindon, Parking in Car Park 1. 2.5 hours ish?
2. Train into London, Tube down to O2, Clipper/Tube back to Waterloo and Airport Transfer Taxi Home.
3. Train into London, Tube down to O2, Train back to Didcot then local Taxi home.

Last train to Swindon is 11.45 and doubt I can make that reliably without having to leave the venue early. O2 helpline says concert finishes at 11pm.

Costs are variable, I already have a season ticket so just need an off peak for the wife. I could also work (Canary Wharf) Friday if I took options 2/3 making them the cheaper option. Decisions Decisions!

Driving to the 02 was a nightmare last year and getting out even worse....

Last time I drove to London and parked in Chiswick and then took the tube across London to/from the 02 - this was much better...

O2 parking will cost £20.

Clipper runs until 1am IIRC, so you can avoid the rush as people try to catch last trains home from mainline stations. Get a good price on a late room in the West End and make the missus happy with shopping on Sat am then drift home on at your own pace.

Its 30mins by tube N Greenwich to Paddington, so might make it a cosy getting the last train. 11pm will be venue curfew, so show could finish anywhere between 10:20 and 11.

It is supposed to be a corking show - I saw the monumental video system in the loading bay when I was there last week.

Personally I'd go for the late night thames clipper into Westminster and hotel if money allows. You can have a drink or two and you never know you might even get your end away. biggrin

lol Thanks guys. Have VIP tickets (get me!) so parking was free, however have decided to get a taxi home. Would have preferred to stay but need to be back early to take my eldest to a party.

May get a pickup arranged from Covent garden and head in for a pint after the show.

I work in the wharf and it takes 45 mins to get to Pad at peak times to be sure to get up and onto a train.

I'm going on the 23rd. (Can't wait!)

Have got the travel sorted but just trying to find somewhere to stay now. Barking Travelodge is looking cheap at the mo......what's the town centre like? Is it a dodgy area?

Plenty of lodges and stuff around Canary Wharf, have you tried lastminute.com, their secret hotels can be very good value!

Have you tried the Holiday Inn?

It is literally in viewing distance of the O2 and parking there is about £4 a night, and a ten minute walk in.

I stay there every time.
