I've been trying to figure out what a couple of songs are on Top Gear, but because its the ones shown on Dave, all the forums only talk about the BBC broadcast ones!

One is on the episode with the Tractor Challenge, and during the drag race, it plays as you first see Jeremy towing the aeroplane.

The other is on the Botswana Special when African Stig walks out of his shed.

Any help would be much appreciated because these songs are awesome!

A couple of times I've tried Shazam, when people have asked & got a "not known"
PHers then will give an answer, as to who performed the track, will personaly know the composer, what car they drive & have pics to prove it wink

Sounds like something by Ennio Morricone to me (think Spaghetti Western), guess that's not really much help though.

hi, i have been down this road too, luckly PHs came up trumps. the thing is with 'dave' they use any old royalty free crap so as to avoid paying artists huge sums of money to use their music, so some of the music is by some totaly unknown artist/group that might take some finding. there are albums out with just this kind of music which is used in a lot of progs.

Yeah I've noticed that too. Also use a fair bit of Bloc Party.

I did hear Rage Against The Machine a few times as well!

Is that right? Do they use different music on the 'Dave' repeats to avoid royalties? Can't say I ever noticed, will need to keep an eye out for that.

Alot of the music used is UNKLE. Even if not one of their album tracks, they often have UNKLE produced tracks or associated acts. Richard Ashcroft, M83, DJ Shadow etc.
