Just wanted to say that Mark Knopfler the other night at the M.E.N was absolutely fantastic, communicated with the audience telling stories and played amazingly well. The sound was perfect and you could hear every instrument perfectly. Was awesome but then again hearing a pro play a guitar always is. Would recommend to anybody who just wants to hear a guitar played well.

Anyone who doesn’t know he was the lead in Dire Straits, played many of their tracks along with new ones of his own. It was a great set

I completely disagree and believe it to of been a rubbish concert with sound everywhere and mr. Knopfler forgetting how to play.

This post is in no way affected by the fact that I had tickets but couldn't make it and am therefore absolutely gutted.

Saw him in Brighton last night. Usually try to see him a couple of times on each tour and thought this gig was one of the best ever. I think it's a testament to the sound crew as well as the musicians that the sound is so perfect.

He had a trapped nerve in his back so played the whole gig sitting down.

Get to see him again at the Albert Hall on Monday biggrin

Sort of saw him in Dubai a few years back.

In true Dubai fashion, it was completely disorganised so I spent the whole gig in the beer queue as the machines kept breaking down and the staff had one brain cell between the lot of then with 6,000 thirsty people.

Sounded good though.

That video posted was taken from a concert on Sky Arts a while ago,i`ve been a big MK fan for a long time mainly due to my Dad playing Alchemy live on video and lp in my youth.Sadly i think that MK has lost alot of his spark and seems to me to be going through the motions as his last solo album is utter crap, infact from Sailing to Philadelphia his solo work has got more and more boring, and frankly Dire!Which is a shame for someone who wrote great tunes like Money for Nothing and Sultans of Swing which both have some great guitar riffs.
