Although to be honest it doesn't bother me. Who cares if people have heard of them if they're good. Loads of cases of bands making it big and selling out.

well, never as 'big' as they deserve to be.

There's a great range of songs on their few albums; typically (northern) British band with alternately quiet or rousing and melancholy or biting songs. Brilliant lyrically.

A fantastic band well worth trying out for anyone who hasn't come across them (if you like "Elbow" or "Cherry Ghost" I reckon you'd soon be fan.

Agreed - Tyketto were a great band and Danny Vaughn is a very talented singer/songwriter who has never had the success he deserves ... looking forward to seeing him in Glasgow in December.

Having said that, they never really made it anywhere, not just in the UK.

On the other hand a band like Creed are huge in the USA, but virtually ignored here.

Okay, one from the past but Cold Chisel was a good ol' Aussie Rock Band
Go into any Aussie Bar, fire up this song and watch the place erupt into song

Yep, really liked Sumday... not got any of their others though, so I guess I'm guilty frown

Another - The Tragically Hip. Huge in Canada (well, they are Canadian), but never really took off here...

Discovered them as one of their songs was used in the C4 TV show The Teachers. Cool band.

ETA: this is my favourite track of theirs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXmCN6Udj1o

Funny that as I heard a bit of "Storm Warning" on some TV drama and wrote the lyrics down and searched the web to see who it was by (amazing the number of great artists I've come across like this!)

That track shows their quirky and pointed lyrical style well!

Under Two Flags.

I have it on good authority that the band were offered a session on Radio 1 if 'Soapy' would sleep with Janis Long. yikes

He refused, hence no-one's ever heard of them.

Carina Round.

From Wolverhampton, but nobody here has ever heard of her. Outstanding song writing and incredible voice. Luckily she's still plugging away in the States, with a new album due soon.
