Link?

He has been doing many guest verses and they have been pretty good considering his lapse on relapse..so to speak.

Got it

Yeh not bad, good to hear he is binning to silly accents (as per his own words) as he is a very talented rapper. Not sure if that freestyle he did on westwood was a freestyle but the lyrics are incredible if they are.

Ah cheers for that link, bit easier than mine.

Yer I've always enjoyed his lyrics, I think what breaks him apart from most rappers is he raps about real things rather than just rapping about guns and violence etc to try and make them sound 'gangster'.

not just that, as there are plenty that don't do that. But its the words he managed to use and the way he creates rhymes, very impressive when you break a song down and see how its crafted.

i liked the M but the last few albums have been soulless tat.

the tie ups with Akon etc just show the way he has lost.

To be honest eminem is the only rapper I really listen to, he seems to be the only one that's really broken through into main stream music.

You got any other recommendations to similar sort of styles?

American or British?

To be fair he is very unique in his lyrics, who else would have and has made an album ANYTHING like the Marshall Mathers LP undoubtedly a masterpiece.

I'll listen to pretty much most rap and am a big fan of Jay-z, Nas, and the like, also quite like Kid Cudi too.

Check out Plan B's rap albums, he is pretty good and has some decent lyrics, check out 'raking the dead' for a song that wouldn't be out of place on a eminem album.

Not got the albums but heard most of the songs which I think are good.

Jay Z I like the collaborations he's done, linkin park etc but not really heard much of his solo work.

Wow! Em is back, and i for one think this is brilliant. I have always thought that Marshal was and still is a fking poet of the highest order. His words actually speak to me and i just love the way he gets his feelings across.

Ps I am a 54 yr old grandad!

Plan B is also going on to do good stuff in my humble opinion!

Well let me be the first to tell you his best work is arguably hidden in the albums and hasn't been released as singles.

Buy/steal/stream The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show. Both really great albums the former being one of the best rap albums of all time, it has it all. And is brutal in places, so much so that lyrics are blocked out even on the CD because they were deemed too far.

As for Jay-z well I think he was st after the linkin park stuff, he has 9 albums before that, and some of them, The Blueprint, and Blueprint gift&curse are two of the best with some incredible stuff. Check out 'Renegade' it has Eminem on it, great track

I was refering to D12 not eminem, I've pretty much heard everything from eminem.

Will look into Jay-Z a bit more then for his early stuff. I am liking Blueprint 2 though.

Any idea how to get hold of the full versions of his songs? I heard the full version of My Name Is (real lyrics include "My English teacher wanted to have sex in junior high, the only problem was my English teacher was a guy") as a remix on some DJ battle years ago but can't find where to get the song from.

And he does mention his style in one of his songs, something about compound syllable sounds combined (?) where he doesn't always rhyme the last words in a line, but often rhymes the syllables mid line, for example:
You know you blew up when the women rush your stands
And try to touch your hands like some screamin' Usher fans

Plan B will be very good, have you heard 'Defamation Of Strickland Banks' though.. Not much rap on it..

Lil Wayne is my favorite rapper, Eminem/Kanye share second place imo.

Make sure you download explicit versions, the albums all have the proper lyrics on them, although still blank out the columbine references (not sure why they're not that bad considering other content)

With regards to rhyming scheme, its quite unique, and changes a lot, he also ends one line with half the word and starts the next line with the other half, quite amusing. I quite liked this section of his cypher this year

"Now watch me kill a koala, while I maul a chihuahua,
bum a pill off of Paula like let me holla at you mama.
It's like I'm off the ba-ba when I bring the fkin drama,
I used to bomb ya like Saddam but now that I'm a little calmer.
I'm a fkin cross between Osama, Dahmer, Obama, and Dalai Lama,
told Miley(Cyrus) I’m a knight in shining armor."

ETA

I'd recommend having the lyrics site in front of you when you're listening to a song of his, because even though I must have listened through the album hundreds of times I still can't get every word and they make such a huge difference sometimes!

Has anyone read the lyrics to the new one?

Eminem - I'm Not Afraid said:
And to the fans, I'll never let you down again, I'm back
I promise to never go back on that promise, in fact
Let's be honest, that last Relapse CD was "ehhhh"
Perhaps I ran them accents into the ground
Relax, I ain't going back to that now
hehe

Who is the first verse about though?

Eminem - I'm Not Afraid said:
You can try and read my lyrics off of this paper before I lay 'em
But you won't take this thing out these words before I say 'em
Cause ain't no way I'm let you stop me from causing mayhem
When I say 'em or do something I do it, I don't give a damn
What you think, I'm doing this for me, so fk the world
Feed it beans, it's gassed up, if a thing's stopping me
I'mma be what I set out to be, without a doubt undoubtedly
And all those who look down on me I'm tearing down your balcony
No if ands or buts don't try to ask him why or how can he
From Infinite down to the last Relapse album he's still st and
Whether he's on salary, paid hourly
Until he bows out or he st's his bowels out of him
Whichever comes first, for better or worse
He's married to the game, like a fk you for christmas
His gift is a curse, forget the earth he's got the urge
To pull his dick from the dirt and fk the universe
