You now the ones - you hear the first few notes/bars on the radio and you are convinced is one thing, but turns out to be another.

for example:

Bachman Turner Overdrive - You Aint Seen Nothin' Yet
and
Roy Orbison - You Got It

Any more?

B.L.U.R.E.M.I. by Blur
Don't Leave Me by Green Day

When we saw Blur at Reading about ten years ago they began to play their tune (we had never heard it before, being connoisseurs of their earlier work, natch) we started to sing along to the Green Day song. When ol' Damon launched into his lyrics we were most confused, as was the one other person in the 100,000 or so people there who also knew the Green Day tune.

Coldplay - 'Talk' and Kraftwerk, 'Computer Love'.

Oh. Maybe the order should be reversed...

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and

Baa Baa Black Sheep.

Almost.

Yes, I do have a baby and have to hear these songs on a daily basis.

Oasis "Don't Look back in Anger".

John Lennon "Imagine".

Used to be caught out with that a lot when it was on the radio.

I am sure there was a Dandy Warhols track that was very similar to a Stones song. Can't remember the details though.

What was the one in the charts recently?

I think it was Take That song, and the other by a female artist...

Wasn't it 'Shine' and the female artist being Lily Allen? Can't remember what her tune was called though.

Think that would be 'Bohemion like you' by the Dandys and 'Jumping Jack Flash' by the Stones.

not modern though

I also think that Kesha and Toyo Cruise (he might have a different name, but my version has a small element of sensibility) seems to have ripped off the MASH/ suicide is painless bit.

Twinkle twinkle little star and the Alphabet song is the same tune.

The Take that song and Lilly Allen's song It's not alright (I think) use the same tune.

Just remebered the whole 'Brimful of Asha' and the 'Same jeans on' scenario.

More than a similar beginning there though.

Aaragh! Another almost identical one! Our kids only know one tune!
