Just been told about this video and I've just watched it.

Basically, the video is Ginger people being arrested, being sent to some deserted camp.

It shows them being abused, a young girl gets shot in the head, and another gets blown to pieces.

This is extremely graphic, and the director of this needs some mental help.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNO1ghD69n8

This, surprisingly, has been banned, and i doubt it'll be on youtube for long.

Is it really that graphic?

Both the shooting and the blowing up don't really look real to me.

Good video though - like the political point.

Is it seen to be totally acceptable to pick on gingers now?

I mean if you substituted the people in that video for muslims, women, fat people, blacks, etc etc - there would be total and utter outcry, it wouldn't see the light of day.

Save for a few shots, it's something that you'd see on latenight MTV, saggy old woman tits and all - they'd probably cut the execution shot, and cut the explosion shot and that's pretty much made it safe for late night tv.

(And I totally see that I'm setting myself up for a wooosh moment, but tbh it's ste that you can't rip on anyone for race, colour, belief of deity of choice, sex or body size, but you can rip on someone for being ginger without any comeback at all)

That's sort of the point. Find an anagram for "Ginger" that might well be appropriate here and you'll understand what the allegory is.

Well yeah, that particular word, beginning with N is quite well used though - however gingers (to the best of my knowledge) don't go calling each other "mah ginger mo-fo" as a point of greeting!!

And yeah, the double meaning with the ginger insurgent army does give the image that in the video, the tipping point had been passed and the gingers were revolting - I dunno though. I'm an equal opportunities pisstaker, but if I take the piss out of someone for being muslim, black or any other set of pigeonholed 'racial' groups, I get threatened with racially aggravated hate crimes, but if I let loose with the words Duracell, Carrot Top or the old faithful "Ginger " it's perfectly fine!

It's all academic anyway - mia can't sing for ste and I'd rather insert rusty nails into my ears and use them to scratch my skull, than listen to any more of her dross!!

The only thing worse than that video was the accompanying music: we can't sing so we'll make a 'shocking' video. Total dross.

Well, it's getting a fair amount of publicity and exposure, so as a promo - job done...

As a music video and promotional tool it is doing a very good job indeed!

It makes a good intellectual point and is very nicely filmed but ultimately it is simply something to promote the music to a wider audience. Job very well done.

You do realise that she is making a political point? The video is not bashing ginger haired people. In fact, its doing quite the opposite!

Indeed... It's simply a metaphor and uses prejudice against something 'ridiculous' to make the point. Quality video, even if the music is st.

I think that's the point... he doesn't realise that... even though it was explained and it's fking obvious. With a bit of luck he's not old enough to vote wink

I forgot to mention in my condescending post above that the video is great.

when you see the ginger youth who is angry and non-compliant to the police, you understand why, which is in contrast to when we (as a nation/cultural entity) see muslims/black people/whoever being harassed and say that they should just comply and it would be ok.

Indeed. It's a terrific device to get people to empathise who otherwise might not.
