I liked a lot of their stuff as a kid in the 80s, but never really got the lyrics, then I as I got older I kind of forgot about them as a band - except for the magical Love Will Tears Us Apart.

Last week I happened to notice that Control was on TV, so recorded it. What an excellent film, and what a cracking band they were. I'm now old enough to get the lyrics and also to note just how influential they were on many of the indy bands - so many echoes of Joy Division exist in songs I like by contemporary bands.

So this last week I've been listening Joy Division and slipping gently into depression hehe

If you haven't seen the film, well worth tracking it down!

Who have you been revisiting musically recently - I did the same with Bauhaus but TBH they weren't as good as I remember?

Absolutely!

I posted this in the 'cool songs' thread. I think it's an amazing performance! For me, it's got everything.

Transmission..

The two I have on repeat are:

Digital - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vYnqh0dZ3A

Disorder - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrzGpVOPcTI&fea... A simply sublime bass line to this track.

I listened to some Bauhaus and thought exactly the same.

This thread has prompted a quick dead kennedys and siouxie and the banshees you tube revival and they're both still excellent. hehe

My favourite Suze song was Happy House - always sounded like she was on the edge of a mental breakdown when singing it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeBMHnJqAvM&fea...

The dead kennedys are a band I've never listened to. I'll have a shufty and see what I think - cheers!
