I did myself a great dis-service by not buying a lot of classic ambient/trance/dance records when I first heard them in the early/mid-90's, and I'm trying to make up for it now. Trouble is, iTunes doesn't seem to carry much early 90's electronica, or at least not the tracks/album I'm after. In particular, I'm trying to find a CD of The Irresistible Force - Flying High. There are some comedy 'collectible' offers on Amazon for north of £40, which I can't justify.

Are there any other decent retailers worth trying?

Tried ebay? Could also try asking on Freecycle and Freegle.

Cheers, will have a look.

'electronica' - I think it's an Americanism. Deepest apologies, I was up at 4am...

Actually, have you tried looking for the tunes on Youtube? If you find the ones you want, ask the video poster where they got it from!

Quite a lot of people call electronically-generated music 'electronica' since it's a blanket term that covers many genres, and there isn't another smile

That may be so but as it's such a blanket term, I dislike it; I doubt many people can say they like "electronica" as there are going to be whole genres they hate. One German colleague gave me a CD of "techno". Turns out it was drum n bass but to her "electronica" is "techno". IYSWIM!

Alas it seems they've not had it in stock for a couple of years.

Vinyl Exchange might be another option (I've found some collectible stuff there in the past) -- http://www.vinylexchange.co.uk/

I'd give 'em a ring TBH as the website isn't the greatest to use, at least IMO.

Another option (expensive but not quite £40+):

I do see what you mean, but for ease of conversation when someone asks me what I listen to I say "mostly electronica", saves reeling off a bunch of genres to someone who won't know what IDM amongst others is, even if it does mean they might think I like something I don't smile
