... just another no-soul hypershredder. He does some amazing stuff, it can get a bit disjointed but, 8 finger tapping anyone?

Great talent as a guitarist, but a friend of mine linked me to 7-8 of her facourite Buckethead songs and they almost all left me feeling 'cold'. Seemed to lack atmosphere and sounded very digital without really going anywhere.

Spectacular technique. Great note separation. Mindless shredding. Bored. 400 notes needlessly crammed into one bar of music. Shred-wise, the lad lacks the melody of Satch, the free-thinking of Vai, and the depth of Petrucci.

Sometimes, I'd rather listen to one sustained vibrato note over four bars played by Beck / Clapton / Gilmour TBH.

any reason why he can't actually hit the notes in time? Overcome by the need for speed, much like Tommy Emanuel

Although there is a technical aspect that is good, it could also be thought of as someone who found a bad way to almost replicate a TB303.

The little timing errors give you such a mental kick, that you can't help but feel a little let down at the end of it all

brilliant.... though it could do with being slightly more surreal!

that's when he's a humbling genius - jordan (the one I posted earlier) is the sort of playing that leaves me wondering!

I'm never sure whether I'm just deeply jealous of players like Buckethead but I prefer players like Frusciante. That's maybe because I can play Frusciante's stuff and it seems more melodic to me...

Humbling genius? It's just overtley technical and hugely self indulgant, not to mention very very boring. Sure he can play a guitar far better than I can but thats not really the point.

Ill be the first to admit tht eh 'shredders' whoever they are leave me totally cold, I can see the technical proficiency in it obviousley but its just so pointless most of the time, and hardly melodic, especially Buckethead.

Different style of playing I know but give me Paul Kossoff, John Sykes, Danny Kirwan et al any day of the week over techincal 'masters', the bore me ridgid.

BTW, the whole wearing a KFC bucket on your head and some kind pseudo death mask and then caling yourself Buckethead, thats just a bit crap isn't it. The pseudo death mask I could take, but not a KFC bucket on his head, hardly rock and roll is it.

Pointless self indulgence.

No doubt the man can play but that really is the worst sort of masterbation. I actually feel a bit depressed after listening to that endless dross. frown

Especially as he's 41-42 years of age! Pillock!!
Bit clever at the shredding though!

Some say that his hair is made of guitar strings - D'Addario XL9s. And that his guitar playing was inspired by wasps. All we know is he's called Brian Carroll.

Finger tapping is all very well, and he is a very technically gifted guitarist, but for me, i will always prefer the like of Kossoff, clapton, srv and iommi over the shredders. Not that they are bad guitar players, just not my cup of tea really, although i have said before i didnt mind steve vai's playing during his dlr days
