Has anyone got any CD’s which they think are great, but have been unable to find follow-up albums? Or maybe not been able to get a CD at all from artists/ bands who you’ve heard and liked, maybe on TV or from download. I suppose bands are a little easier to understand because they can split-up as opposed to just being dropped by their label or having personal reasons for quiting.

So lets have your one CD or too few CD Artists/ Bands who you can't understand why they aren't still making records.

For me it’s Christine Levine – BMG used to send me tapes of their 'up and coming' artists, and one had a few of her tracks on it. I bought her first album (Awkward Angel) on release in about 1998/9 ish but found nothing else since. I still really like this CD, there should be more judge

Well after an hour of googling I can tell you that Christine Levine would now be 36. Before being famous she worked as a railway station announcer, and when she was signed she was in a band called Baby Universe but the record label thought it would be better if she went solo. She came from Birkenhead and there's a very vague blog entry I found suggesting someone in Southport might know her. However she doesn't appear to be making any effort to be found with no new music since that CD in 1998.

Wow are you a professional stalker or is it just a hobby? hehe

Seriously though, there were a few more bands I was going to mention in my original post but they seem to have appeared on Wikipedia since I last looked. When I first started looking for info on Oslo and Honey is Cool I couldn't find anything, however they now have nice wiki entries.

That was a cracking album back in the day.

For me its not an artist, its a couple of bands.

Nick Beggs band "after" Kajagoogoo - Ellis, Beggs and Howard. They did one album "Homelands" that was mildly epic, and they apparently didn't complete the second album.

Imagine my surprise a week back when I just decided to see if he was selling copies of the original album, to actually find that he's got a free download of the last album .... huge credit to him.

Another would be Mansun, or more specifically Paul Draper.

The three main Mansun albums were great. The fourth album finally got released in a fantastic box set. There was a fifth album of sorts that he put up as a stream from his website. Cue one download helper later, its on my iPod.

But nothing new from him in ages. He occasionally tweets something about going into the studio, a new bit of mixing software, but no new material.

Yes, I remember her, I think I got her album with my Esso tiger tokens hehe

Wasn't her career done for by winning the tainted Brits best newcommer award?

It'd certainly be fun to get paid for it. wink

Over the last few years I've needed to find a couple of people I used to know who didn't want to be found much, so I've had a fair bit of practice. Most of it is just typing the name into google, scrolling through the links to find other search terms that pop up on relevant pages, and just refining it like that.

How about the band Salad? I've got their debut cd then they vanished.
However... being fronted by the then MTV VJ Marjne somethingorother says something about their potential longevity...

I saw Ellis,Beggs and Howard play at the Town and Country Club many years ago. 'Homelands' was a great album, wish I had it on CD rather than tape! 'Big Bubbles No Troubles' was a great tune.music

I quite liked the Babylon Zoo CD when it first came out. They seemed set for bigger things, but just disappeared into nowhere

what what what? why didn't I know about this?!

I was a massive Mansun fan - I remember talk on the mansun forums about a Paul Draper solo project but as time has gone (5-6 years?) on the fans have dwindled somewhat due to the lack of news. Similar stroy with My Vitriol, who were reasonably big about 2001 and have wasted a stupid amount of time supposedly coming up with a second album but with very little news and fans losing interest/forgetting!
