Live track or studio version?

Recently I have been drawn to a lot of 'live' cds, including (but not limited to) Live in the City of Light by Simple Minds, 101 by Depeche Mode and Entreat by The Cure.
I am finding that I like the live tracks more than the studio recorded ones, Disintegration from Entreat is awesome!
So, what do you think, Live or studio recording?

Depends on the band really. If a band is all about the performance then the live will be better. For a band that is all about using the studio as an instrument the studio version is better.

My favourite live CD is Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison.
