Really looking forward to it and if anyone here has facebook, find the group for wanting Andrew w.k to play download!

Line-up looks pretty pap this year, certainly considering the hilarious ticket price. Was good craic last year though. Think i'm going to Roadburn instead.

Despite deciding I'd never do another festival, certainally in the UK, just from being generally pissed off with what a racket they are, my gf has never been to one. She has embraced most of my music after being more involved mostly with more mainstream & classical stuff, and has loved every gig I've taken her to from Jello Biafra through to orbital, so it seemed only right to break the vow.

Was kinda tempted by ACDC but decided on sonisphere, I think when the full lineups are out it'll be stronger, a lot less filler by %. And seeing what rammstien put on without the restrictions of an indoor arena should be a giggle...

I was very tempted by the sonisphere lineup, and I would have probably gone to that if I hadn't had friends already planning on download. Would love to catch Rammstein and Anthrax again. I'd agree that on the whole Download hasn't got that fantastic a lineup, though some pretty good headliners. As mentioned if Andrew WK gets confirmed that should be fun and one of my personal must-sees, but then my highlight last year was Limp Bizkit! paperbag
AC/DC should be excellent again!

I went to Roadburn a few years ago. Neurosis, Big Business and Amen Ra were completely beyond awesome. Loads better than Download. Make sure you stay in a Jungalow! If I ever go again I reckon I'll drive over rather than faffing about getting a flight to Amsterdam then the train to Tilburg. Worth considering...

I'd really like to go, but I don't think I can justify the cost. It would also make June a very expensive month.

The wife wants to go too, however she isn't keen if it is just the two of us, as we there used to be a group of us that went to festivals, however some of us grew up and some didn't.

Coupled with the fact that I'd have to stay in a hotel, as I'm too used to my creature comforts now.

I am absolutely GAGGING to see Neurosis. Saw Big Business at Nightmare Before Christmas a couple of years ago along with Fantomas, Melvins, Mastodon, The Locust....great festival.

Not going myself - not my thing, however I do have a mate who has a couple of non camping tickets (a campsite near by was booked instead) going spare and would accept any reasonable (just trying to cut her loses), if any one is interested.
I know I shouldn't be selling anything on the board but neither the seller nor I stand to make any money out of this.

Same here, maybe I'm just too young to appreciate the lineup but all that interests me is RATM and Deftones. Last years lineup was immense, pretty much every band from my youth biggrin

I bought a weekend ticket early to make sure I got to see RATM (having missed out the other year because a mate dithered for too long over whether he wanted to come with me! frown ), and I have to say I'm a little underwhelmed overall myself.

T-C-Vultures should be good
RATM are a must
Sunday night is a 3-way split between A'smith, Stonesour and the Suicidals, which is a right bugger.
...and Senser should be really cool too.

Beyond that, anyone got any advice as to who I really should see??? Don't like thrash/death/grindcore, don't like Emo, don't like cock-rock, but will give pretty much everything else a go.

Also now seriously considering Sunday at Sonisphere...

PS - anyone want to meet up for a beer and a band, just let me know...

Ginger, acoustic stage, 7.20pm, Sunday 13th. It'll be the rowdiest, rockingest acoustic performance you'll ever see.

Porcupine Tree. Floyd-esque prog, but can really rock too.

Devil sold his soul are headlining the Red Bull stage I think - they're good lads and make one hell of a racket....albeit very soundscapey and "big"

Are The dillinger escape plan playing? easily one of the best live metal bands.

yes

First band I ever saw live were The Almighty, and I've not seen him since (c.18 years! eek )

Currently on last.fm going through some of the bands on the line-up.
- Anathema are another blast from my Uni days and I forgot how good their guitar work was...Paradise Lost with class!
- Imicus don't sound bad
- Hellyeah are worth a punt
- ...and I LOVE the Cancer Bats cover of Sabotage!!! Video is pretty cool too...
