Oasis, aka air pollution or, total shoite!
Discussion
I know I'm new to the forum, but just wanted to know if I'm alone here.
I've just spent 3 1/2 hrs in a mates car getting my ears poisoned by Oasis!
Jesus, I can handle listening to a few tracks, but my god, 3 1/2 hrs of listening to the monotone dull tones and repetitive tunes. Need I go on?
Am I alone here, or has "death by Oasis" made anyone else feel like buying 6ft of rope and putting some boy scout lessons into practice by hanging themselves???

I like Oasis.
I don't mind listening to one or two tracks, or should I say "can tolorate", but my god. It's my mates car, so I suppose his choice of music.
Drone drone drone...twang...drone drone...twang twang....and so one....
They're halfway through the next song before you realise the previous one's finished!

I'd agree with that.I've just downloaded all of my favourite Oasis tracks and created my own 'best of' album, and have reminded myself how good they are, although I'd bet that my favourites wouldn't stack up with mosts Oasis fans' choices:
From memory:
Live Forever
Supersonic
I'm outta time
Masterplan
Chapagne Supernova
Talk Tonight
Little by little
Stand by me
Some might say
No 'Shes electric', no 'cigarretes & alchohol', no 'dont look back in anger' no 'wonderwall' (I prefer mike flowers pops' version )

Has anyone one seen that John Lennon advert on the telly going on about originality.
They should have oasis gently overdubbed in the back ground.
Life isn't so fun these days.
I think Macca should sue them all for plagiarism.
I don't mind Oasis now and again, but not for hours on end.
Can't you buy your mate an ipod shuffle for his birthday?

I've never rated them really. Yeah ok they've done a few good tracks but were never deserving of the fanfare of hero-worship that surrounded them. A very limited and mundane band.
'Be here now' was truely awful IMO. Ridiculously stodgy and overblown, I had to endure it from the day it was released as I used to work with someone who loved them and wouldn't hear a word against them.
In fact I used to get funny looks of everyone at the time for saying that I didn't like Oasis. It was as if you weren't allowed to dislike them. Muppets!

Monthefish, what site did you use to d/l the tracks and what sort of d/l speed did you get?
I average around 450ish kb/s
I just use Amazon for convinence (always seems quite cheap, as I always just intend on buying the one track at 89p, but then I end up buying more). Not sure of speed.I average around 450ish kb/s
I'm a huge Oasis fan.
They've done some belters and, whether you like them or not, you can't deny they've been huge.
Music has this funny thing where some people like stuff, other people don't.
I play in a band. Between 4 of us we play (and write) music that every week we enjoy playing together. And yet I don't like some stuff they do and vice versa.
Accept that and move on, rather than calling them "talentless" or "pricks" or whatever your insult flavour of the day may be.

I did a number of gigs with an Oasis tribute band back in the day (1997.. ish ?) and they're songs are all so similar I had trouble remembering what verse went with what chorus etc... Some moments of genius songwriting (Wonderwall etc.. ) but alot of overblown marketing, hype and media image pushing going on...
If you were around in 1994, when i first heard Definitely Maybe, it just sounded so incredible and different to what was around at that time....
They were the first band that really got me into music and pick up a guitar too... trying to learn all the b-sides like Sad Song and D`yer Wanna Be A Spaceman... such simple stuff. Most of the B-sides were just as good as the singles, ones like Rockin` Chair and The Masterplan.
And the way they brhaved off stage was just as entertaining, i loved how they were (and still are) totally honest. I wanted to be them, becuase they ruled the planet as far i was concerned.
Put it like this, what else was there to listen to that was as exiting and ballsy as Oasis at the time? I`m sure there was alot of talent, but Oasis just blitzed the competition.
I don`t know how old the guy that started this thread is, but i`m sure they have thier music that they grew up with, got thier feet tapping and maybe seen live, but there will always be someone that says "its shoite".... Especially if its Razorlight or Kings of Leon or something! Ha!

your contrary position to the OP can only be expressed in ridicule, mocking any spelling or grammar errors and insulting his car. out.
