Was anybody else there?

What did you think? Here's a review I found this morning.

It about summed it up though. I'd never been to the O2 before, and I thought the sound was pretty bad (or maybe it's where we were sitting).

The Beck set was pretty grim though, not helped by his band. He had a fat bloke on drums (Narada Michael Walden) with the biggest kit I've ever seen who was all over the place rythmically, a bassist (Rhonda Smith) who was very noisy but not much else (and ponced about in a black boiler suit probably thinking she looked cool, but to me looking like she had a severe case of piles)................. and then Beck himself. A triumph of technique over anything else.

Thank God the Clapton set was good. His backing people were excellent - Willie Weeks and Steve Gadd were really tight. Complete contrast to the Beck band.

Sounds 'bout par for the course for Jeff Beck, which is why I'm such a big fan (daft as it sounds).

He's like the French rugby team: on form = dazzling and inventive and improvised brilliance. off balance = odd and bewildering and directionless.

I've heard Jeff Beck he can be very hit or miss live, dependiong on the night. All the recent clips I've seen if him live on the net from the last couple of years with Vinnie, Tal and Jason have been excellent, so maybe the band was uninspiring and let him down..
