Campbell - over 40million record sales, living legend. You can go see him at the Bournemouth International Centre for £37.50 for the only show he is doing there, in May.

Andre - about 50 record sales, mainly to family I'd say. You can go and see him at one of his 3 or 4 shows at the same venue, not to mention the shows at the venue across the road for £50.00

That whining, spiky haired door-mat should be wearing a fkin ski-mask.

Musically I'd have to agree with you. Glen Campbell has written and sung some absolute classics and is a regular on my playlists. However, financially, you can't blame Peter Andre. He may not be yours or my cup of tea, but if there is demand for tickets for that many shows, then why not up the price a little.
I have to say, he comes across as a nice guy when interviewed and seems to have kept his dignity in the whole Katie Price/Peter Andre/whatever that chap she's married this week is called media fiasco!

Why were you planning on going to see Andre?

If you weren't, why do you care how much the tickets cost?

It doesnt affect me. I just think its a shocking disparity. That was worth pointing out.

They'll charge what the market will bare. Simple as that, tickets must be selling.

Not really. Most people who go to gigs are younger people.

More younger people like Peter Andre over Glen Campbell. Nothing more than that.

Ok.

Well I'll go outside and shoot myself in the face then. Sorry about that.

ETA: I do know the basic principal of economics. I just thought it was an interesting example of "popular" vs "good".

Who the fk is Glen Campbell?

Can't say I've ever heard the name. Glen Miller, yes. Glen Campbell, who?

Peter Andre - nice bloke - had a few hits int he past and is now riding a wave of celebrity, in the news and papers virtually every day for the last 3 years, with a new album etc..etc.. released.

Just to check I've been and Googled Glen Campbell, I assume you mean the 1936 born country and western singer, that makes him 74 years old.

Just how many of his fans do you think will still even be alive let alone able to get to a concert without mobility assistance?

What a strange OP.

When has there ever been anything but this in the music industry?

Certainly not since the 50s.

I think Glenn Miller is a lot more famous than Glen Campbell, by a long long long way.

Quite a few films have been about him. Even if he didn't die when he disappeared, he would more than likely be dead now. So we shall go for was.

Peter Andre is an odd looking 36 year old from Harrow who has IMO almost zero talent and was married to Katie Price / Jordan.

Glen Campbell is a 73 year old who has won 25 awards for music, not only his solo career but playing guitar for Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Troggs, Frankie Laine, Bobby Darin, Jan & Dean, The Mamas & the Papas, The Beach Boys, The Righteous Brothers, and The Monkees.

I guess it's an age thing? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qoymGCDYzU

PA was doing a signing at our local Tesco last week (go Pete!)

The Mrs went down mostly for a laugh and to try and get a signed single for a friend as a joke.

Apparently the queue was around the block, people had been there since 5am (he was appearing at 5pm) she said she had never smelt so much spray tan and cheap perfume. Any naked flames and the whole lot would have gone up.

Glenn Campbell was also a member of the Wrecking Crew along with Carole Kay and Hal Blaine (amongst others). You'll have heard them whilst listening to many many hits from famous acts of the '60s without even realising it.

So, even if you don't know who Glenn Campbell is, you will have heard his playing.

Makes me glad I'm a jazz fan!

I can get a front table, sat with my pint literally feet away from some of the UKs top jazz musicians playing amazing music for about £5 - depending on where I go.

Why people would pay well over £100 to go and stand 100m away from the stage at a Robbie Williams (or the like) concert (where the sound will be crap) boggles the mind!
