Blimey, I'm suprised it was not posted here already ......

It was 40 years ago today that the debut album 'Black Sabbath' was released

Ironically, it was released on a Friday (of course, you might argue)

Fantastic album.

Quite apart from being the first real heavy metal album (fact, end of, etc.) it was recorded in a frankly astonishing eight hours, so it's astounding that it sounds so produced.

Paranoid took a frankly leisurely two days.

And, of course, one of the greatest opening guitar riffs of ALL time (using just two notes! - G / Db)
