Likewise, although i copied and pasted into excel and can only count 998 albums...

Some odd choices.

Megadeth, Rust in Peace, ok, Peace Sells, ok, but why no So Far So Good? In my Darkest Hour is just sublime
Metallica, S&M? Surely not
Dinosaur Jr - Bug yes, but Living All Over me over Green Mind? Again, odd
REM, Murmur for sure, Green, definately, Automatic, yes, but no Out of Time? Yes it was a bit commercial, but great.

Notable omissions, Misfits, Slayer (only Reign in Blood)

Interesting list. Have to say i'm finding it very annoying that they insist on going Presley, Elvis rather than Elvis Presley (for example). Makes it nippy to scan!

I think I've heard or own 146 albums from that list. Haven't bought anything lately, last album bought was 'Chutzpah' by The Wildhearts, nothing has taken my fancy since.

That's made me want to get some albums I've lost/forgotten about over the years. Kraftwerk for starters!

Just done a quick count and i have 108 of them, mainly leaning toward the heavier side.

I must say there is some rubbish in that list, some of which i do have and there is no way i would suggest they should be listened to before one dies.

Good to see the likes of Slayer, Soundgarden & Megadeth in there, but i agree with the earlier post RE no So Far So Good So What!

Me personally, if i were able to put one more metal CD into that list it would have to be 'River Runs Red' by Life of Agony

Just noticed no Cradle of Filth on the list either.... surely one of their albums must make the list?

At least half of those, from a quick scan I've just done. However, who wrote the list? Seems like the vast majority of albums are from the last 20years

67. But I was starting to think the list was written by Jeremy Clarkson until I got 3/4 of the way through it.

I own about 60 of those albumn, but as it's albums you must hear then I have heard a lot more than that, probably about 100.

A more user friendly database of a similar list, and movies and books too.

i have a fair chunk of the albums at the bottom end of the list but i saw christian agu-whatever on the list and now i can't take it seriously... that said some of those albums were seriously good. i was pleased that beth orton' central reservation made it, top album that

No, is the answer you're looking for there. There are 1001 metal bands to choose before Dani Filth's pish!

Good call!

I accidentally found the book title on Wikipedia, and the (crap) link I posted was the first thing I noticed when I Google'd...

Copy the whole list into word, sort it A-Z. Then delete the ones you don't have and count the paragraphs left. I have 226 of them.
