Any Genesis fans here?
I am a fan of rock/hard rock/prog rock.
Recently got a bit bored by the music I have so decided to listen to a band I dont kow much of. Genesis seem to fit the bill
Gonna listen to all their albums in sequence - which is quite a lot
Anyone have any thoughts of them? Over their entire career.

Post Gabriel - crap after Duke. Last time I saw them was in 1980 with PC vocals. They were still superb. The PC influence certainly took over after Duke, and I can't really bear it from then on!!
Another fan of Gabriel-era Genesis here. However, PC-Genesis isn't that bad as long as you don't think of it as the same band! There are some great tracks on the 80s albums, Abacab for example, and even Invisible Top Shed has one decent pop track (the title song). We Can't Dance etc. is good if you like that sort of thing.
Certainly not Prog though. Well crafted pop.

Trespass, Foxtrot, Nursery Cryme and Selling England by the Pound all works of brilliance imho. Sort of lost interest after that.
...not forgetting the incredible Lamb.... OK Gabriel wasn't involved in the song structures, and left the band as a result, but what a piece of work. Their greatest album IMO.Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
